From Homestead to Homegrown Products

Hello, and welcome to The Chatty Goat!

We're Morgan and Tommy, a husband-and-wife team with three amazing children and a bustling farm in Southern Michigan. Our journey began in 2017 when we started homesteading, eager to learn and grow. What began with a few animals has blossomed into a full farm with horses, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and our favorite: goats! Our business is named after one of our Nigerian Dwarf goats, the lovely and charismatic Chatty.

The real inspiration for our products came from our family. With three little ones who have sensitive skin, we're constantly looking for gentle, nourishing solutions. Morgan began crafting soaps and lotions right here on our farm using our animals' milk and tallow. We were tired of the unpronounceable chemicals in commercial products and wanted something truly clean and safe for our children and for ourselves.

Morgan's passion for homesteading and her deep knowledge of raising dairy goats led her to author the book, "Homesteading with Dairy Goats."

Written with a powerful foreword from Joel Salatin, this in-depth guide shares her experience and practical advice for managing a healthy and resilient herd, which is a testament to the care and expertise that goes into every product we create.

A Harmony of Earth & Animals

Our philosophy is simple: we believe in the harmonious relationship between our family, our land, and our animals. Everything we do is guided by a commitment to integrity and respect. We are passionate about using every part of the animals we raise, a practice we see as the highest way to honor their life.

Goats: Our herd of Nigerian Dwarf and Nubian goats provides the beautiful, rich milk that forms the base of all our products. We hand-milk our goats daily, ensuring the highest quality milk from animals that are loved and well-cared for.
Sheep: Our flock of Shetland sheep provides us with nourishing sustenance for our family and a source of incredible tallow. This grass-fed tallow is rich in vitamins and minerals and is incredibly gentle on the skin, making it the perfect partner to our goat's milk. We pride ourselves on using every part of the animal, wasting nothing.

This deep connection to our farm and our animals allows us to create products that are truly special. They are gentle enough for our baby's sensitive skin, yet powerful enough to soothe a sunburn or combat my toddler's eczema. We've learned firsthand that nature provides the best ingredients.
